The Miami Valley Down Syndrome Association cannot thrive without the dedication and involvement of our community. Your participation helps strengthen connections across the Miami Valley and directly impacts the lives of individuals with Down syndrome. As we continue forward as a volunteer-driven organization in 2026, we are counting on families like yours to help support our mission.
To be eligible for the 2026 Family Grant, each family must complete one of the following participation opportunities. Please let us know your plans by registering for one of the activities below:
- Plan and Coordinate an MVDSA Event
Options include: Parent’s Night Out, New Parent Gathering, Youth Event, Teen Event, or Adult Event.
Requirements:
- Date, location, and budget must be approved by the office at least 90 days in advance
- The MVDSA Event Center is available for use at any time
- All receipts must be submitted for reimbursement
- MVDSA can pay vendors directly when needed
- Event ideas may include pool parties, bowling outings, movie nights, mom’s or dad’s dinners, new-parent coffee meetups, and more
- Serve as a Team Captain for the 2026 Dayton Buddy Walk
Requirements:
- Attend the Team Captains Meeting
- Set up your fundraising page by March 21 2026
- Raise a minimum of $200 for the 2026 Dayton Buddy Walk
- Participate in an MVDSA Event Center Maintenance/Cleanup Day
Join us for our spring or fall maintenance days, which may include:
- General cleaning
- Weed control
- Driveway repair
- Gutter cleaning
- Leaf pickup
- Painting
- Assist with MVDSA Social Media and Communications
Support our outreach efforts by helping manage social media and communications throughout the year.
- Can be done remotely
- Requires access to a computer and internet
- Training will be provided if needed
