Human Development with Special Needs in Mind
Overview - Individuals with developmental disabilities are often overlooked or completely forgotten in discussions of human sexuality. This class is focused entirely on sexuality and disability. Parents and caregives will learn about human development, specifically how bodies, brains, and feelings change wth each new development phase. Additionally, trainers will discuss how to talk to individuals with disabilities about boundaries and anatomy. Participants will also leave with a batter understanding about how to answer tough questions and still avoid shame or embarrassment.
This training is geared toward parents and caregivers of loved ones with Down syndrome.
The trainers for this class have experience in education and training and Health education. Together, the two trainers have approximately 5 years of experience planning and providing sexual health education programs.
